Low Cost Foods to Control Cholesterol

Fish
Recent research has suggested the fat in oily fish may actually protect against high cholesterol; but if you don’t fancy seafood.
Fish oil is great for heart health. People who take it typically have less heart attacks, and just 3000mg per
day has been shown to have results.
Margarine
Opt for margarines that contain plant sterols. They work in a similar way to psyllium husk by helping your body excrete bad cholesterol.
If you’re not sure where to start, look for products containing the Heart Foundation tick next time you hit the margarine section of the supermarket
Oats
Oats are one of my favorite go-to foods for a healthy heart. They contain beta glucan, another type of fibre great for reducing blood cholesterol.
And if a breakfast of gruel doesn’t float your boat, try getting creative by topping your morning porridge with fresh berries, honey and nuts.
Psyllium husk
A simple, cheap way to reduce cholesterol is to add a tablespoon or two of psyllium husk to your cereal. Keep in mind too much psyllium too soon can also cause gas, thanks to all its fiber, so start low and go slow, ensuring you increase your water intake
